Apple introduced the new MacBook Air with Retina-screen

MacBook Air was updated for the first time since 2015 and has become thinner, lighter, more powerful. Now with Touch ID, new keyboard and Retina-screen. At a special presentation in Brooklyn (New York), Apple introduced a brand new MacBook Air. The laptop received a modern design, a 13.3-inch screen with Retina technology, the latest generation of proprietary butterfly keyboard and many other innovations from the latest MacBook Pro models.

The new MacBook Air is made from 100% recycled aluminum and offers three color options: “gray space”, gold and classic silver. Apple made the laptop more portable: thinner by 10% (now 15.6 mm) and lighter by 17% (now 1.2 kg). The frames around the display have decreased by 50% with the same diagonal. The panel resolution is 2560×1400 pixels (4 million pixels), the number of colors increased by 48%.

The hardware platform of the new MacBook Air is based on an 8th generation dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz. RAM can be from 8 GB to 16 GB, the amount of SSD-drive varies up to 1.5 TB. Available ports include two USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 3 support and a 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones. The Touch ID fingerprint scanner, the Force Touch trackpad and the Apple T2 security chip with Hi-Siri function also appeared.

Apple promises that the new MacBook Air will last up to 12 hours in web viewing mode and up to 13 hours in video playback mode. In addition, FaceTime HD front camera and stereo speakers with increased power were added to the notebook – they became louder by 25% and located on the sides of the keyboard.

The new MacBook Air will go on sale on November 7th. Pre-orders for a laptop open from today, October 30th. Official prices:
